Forbidden City 2

The Forbidden City is amazing. And amazingly huge. You could spends weeks there. My Lonely Planet guidebook says that a team of renovators works on projects full-time, year round because once the whole place is renovated it needs it again - all over again.

We actually bought the wrong tickets at first when we entered the Forbidden City, and bought tickets to go on the Tian'anmen Gate, which is where my huge pictures of Tian'anmen Square came from in a few posts ago. But it was only 15 kuai/yuan, so no big deal.

We finally found the real tickets, (for 60 kuai, kind of pricey!) and bought those and entered the City. Our first stop was a side garden where we meandered for a long time. Here's a picture from it:
On the inside of the City you pass through massive gates, and by temples, etc. Its hard to keep it all straight.
This is a temple that was built on top of a man-made mountain of rocks. There was also a set of stairs carved into the rocks, but I forgot to take a picture of it... oops :(

Leaving the Forbidden City.
