Wangfujing and Snack Street

Wangfujing is Beijing's super trendy (Western) shopping district. Most of it was too expensive even with the exchange rate - because it was all mostly American prices. There was the bookstore though - and the Beijing Olympics store.

Lots of shoppers - and a lot of waiguoren.

Signs at Wangfujing Shopping Street.

Keko Kela! (translation: Coca Cola) The Chinese made a simple translation. The women in the front of the picture thought I was a nutso tourist for taking Coke's picture. Oh well.

Little lobsters, and shrimp maybe?? I couldn't really tell.

Yes, this is the place you can buy scorpions.... and above it were some strange, large, rolly-polly type bug (maybe a bug???). It was pretty gross.

I went for something more normal though. Oh yes, corn :) I'm looking a little tired after our long day.

So many people! Ren shan, ren hai.

At Wangfujing Snack Street - the sellers call out and show everyone their food. Its pretty funny actually. These guys were calling out, "I love you! FREE!" Though of course it wasn't free. This poor little kid got trapped, so I documented his distress. ;)

Eating sugary grapes at the snack street.

Department Store!

Little boys playing in the water display at Wangfujing (which was accompanied by classical music, a little strange).
