I got some info from Vera (see post below) on the Olympics.
- They are shutting down the factories in Beijing gradually to (hopefully) lesson the pollution.
- All foreign factory companies are being told to shut down and leave Beijing for two whole months.
- Before and during the Olympics, only certain cars will be able to drive. If your license plate ends in an odd number you can only drive on M, W, F, Sunday so if you have an even-numbered lisense plate you can only drive T,TH, Saturday, and so on.
- Also, there is going to be no ticket scalping. The government is having everyone who is coming to the Olympics to send in copies of their passports and visas. If you don't do this by their deadline then you can't come in to any event - even if you have a ticket. Therefore, you can't just come to Beijing and buy a ticket two days before the event.
- Beijing is building an Olympic subway line to all the new stadiums - so we are hoping to ride it soon to check out the stadiums :)

China will never cease to amaze me. I hope that they will eventually find a long term solution to their pollution problems as well as the necessary short term one for the olympics.
I'm reading all of these, it looks great!!
